A SpaceX Starship rocket will launch the #dearMoon Lunar Flyby mission. The launch date is currently targeted for 2024 (UTC). The Dear Moon project (#dearMoon project) is a lunar tourism project initiated and funded by the Japanese billionaire and entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa. The project consists of a private space trip involving a SpaceX Starship spacecraft flying a singular circumlunar trajectory around the Moon. The passengers will be Maezawa, eight other civilians, and one or two other crew members. Maezawa expects that the experience of space tourism will inspire the accompanying passengers in the creation of something new. The flight was unveiled in September 2018, and was originally scheduled to happen in 2023, but was postponed to 2024.
