ULA created the heavy-lift launch vehicle Vulcan in order to comply with NSSL regulations. The rocket is the first launch vehicle designed by ULA, utilizing technologies that were already created for the Atlas V and Delta IV rockets. In the event that a customer requests crew launch capability for a vehicle like the Boeing Starliner or a crewed version of the Sierra Nevada Dream Chaser, Vulcan is built to obtain human-rating certification.Four conventional offering configurations—zero, two, four, and six solid rocket booster (SRB) variants—are offered for Vulcan.
