The Model-M 2 Phase from Moog is a Gimbal that are based on the Moog Rotary Actuator having demonstrated a minimum of 15 year on-orbit design life on multiple missions. This gimbal thruster assembly can be configured for wide rotation on both axes with a total rotational range of +/- 28 degrees (X & Y axis). It has an angular resolution of 0.030 degrees and an angular velocity of 6 degrees/sec. It has an incremental angular accuracy of +/- 0.006 degrees and an absolute angular accuracy of 0.030 degrees. The gimbal assembly requires a DC supply voltage of 24-32 V and has a maximum power consumption of 10 W. It features dual axis gimbal driven by rotary actuators for cross-axis positioning, a potentiometer for position telemetry, and space-qualified stepper motors with harmonic drive transmission. The gimbal thruster assembly weighs 4 Kg and measures 221 x 231 x 231 mm. It provides vector-pointing capabilities for various propulsion thruster configurations including Xenon, Arc-jet, and NTO/MMH, and has successfully been used for orbit raising and station keeping of heavier payload satellites.
