The GAT-5510 (G-12) from Viasat is a Satellite Terminal made up of a 2-axis steerable 2-way Ka-band antenna with an integrated ACU, an antenna power supply unit and a modem. It has a transmit frequency range of 27.5-31.0 GHz and a receive frequency range of 17.7-21.2 GHz. This terminal has a G/T of 10.6 dB/K and an EIRP of up to 49.6 dBW (20 W, Tx mode). It uses a tail or fuselage mount, parabolic reflector which is circularly polarized. The terminal has an elevation coverage of 0-90 degrees and an azimuth coverage of 0-360 degrees. It supports 1000 BASE-T Ethernet baseband interface for data and control and ARINC 429 and RS-422 interface for navigation data. The terminal requires a power supply of 115 VAC (antenna and modem) and has a power consumption of 175 W(modem) and 420 W (antenna). It supports the full ITU Ka-band spectrum to maximize operational flexibility and enables broadband in-flight connectivity services for business jet and government users on Viasat’s high-capacity satellite network. The terminal has an antenna mass of 3.6 Kg and a modem mass of 7.7 Kg. It measures 28.0 x 20.8 x 8.3 cm (antenna) and 37.0 x 12.5 x 19.4 cm (modem). It is suitable for applications such as real-time broadband ISR, MedEvac/Telemedicine, search and rescue, and border/maritime surveillance.
