The SROSS-1 (Stretched Rohini Satellite Series-1) satellite was launched by ISRO on 24 March 1987 from SHAR Centre, Sriharikota, India. The mission was carried out in ASLV-D1 launch vehicle and has a mass of 150 Kg. The primary objective of SROSS-1 was to test and demonstrate the capabilities of the newly developed ASLV. It was designed to carry payloads for scientific experiments and technology demonstrations.
