The SROSS-2 (Stretched Rohini Satellite Series-2) satellite was launched by ISRO on 19 July 1988 from SHAR Centre, Sriharikota, India. The mission was carried out in ASLV-D1 launch vehicle and has a mass of 150 Kg. Like its predecessor, SROSS-1, it was primarily intended for technology demonstration and scientific experiments. Unfortunately, the launch of SROSS-2 was not successful. The ASLV-D2 launch vehicle experienced a failure during its flight, resulting in the loss of the satellite. The failure was caused by issues in the vehicle's performance, similar to the challenges faced during the SROSS-1 mission.
