The European Data Relay System (EDRS), also known as the "SpaceDataHighway," is a network of geostationary satellites developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) in partnership with Airbus Defence and Space. EDRS is designed to relay data from low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, drones, and other platforms to ground stations in near real-time. The primary objective of EDRS is to provide fast, reliable, and secure data relay services. By establishing a network of geostationary satellites, EDRS enables near real-time data transmission from LEO satellites to ground stations, significantly reducing the time delay compared to traditional ground-based relay methods.
