Sentinel-6 is a mission within the European Union's Copernicus program designed for monitoring sea level rise. It aims to continue the long-term sea level observations initiated by previous missions such as Jason-3 and Jason-2. Sentinel-6 is equipped with a radar altimeter instrument, which measures the time it takes for radar pulses to travel from the satellite to the ocean surface and back, allowing precise determination of sea surface height.
