INSAT-2A was a geostationary communication satellite operated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was launched by ISRO from Guiana Space Centre in Kourou on 10 July 1992. This mission was carried out in Ariane-44L H10 launch vehicle and has a mass of 1906 Kg. This satellite was intended to study meteorology, satellite based search and rescue, and multipurpose communication such as telecommunication, broadcasting of television and for disaster warning. INSAT-2A was equipped with C-band, Extended C-band, and Ku-band transponders for telecommunications and broadcasting services. It carried meteorological instruments, including the Very High-Resolution Radiometer (VHRR), for weather monitoring and forecasting.
