INSAT-4A is the first fourth generation INSAT-4 Series Satellite which was developed by ISRO to provide services in Ku and C-band frequency bands. The satellite was launched on 22 December 2005 from Guiana Space Centre in Kourou and has a mission life of 12 years. This mission was carried out in Ariane-5 V169 launch vehicle and has a mass of 3081 Kg. The Ku transponders cover the Indian main land and C-Band transponders cover an extended area. It has a dozen Ku transponders and another dozen of C-band transponders. This spacecraft is placed at 83 Degree E along with INSAT-2E and INSAT-3B satellites.
