Telespazio and Hughes Europe Partner to Introduce Cutting-Edge Konnect VHTS Services

Telespazio, a Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%) joint venture, will collaborate with Hughes Europe, an EchoStar company, to introduce cutting-edge connectivity services through the innovative Eutelsat Konnect VHTS (K-VHTS) satellite, built by Thales Alenia Space, a Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%) joint venture. 

The K-VHTS satellite is known for having a very high throughput, delivering 230 beams over Western Europe and a Ka-band capacity of 500 Gbps, which makes it the largest geostationary satellite ordered to date in Europe. The K-VHTS satellite is built on the Hughes JUPITER System, and the companies will utilize Hughes JUPITER terminals.

The use of cloud-based applications is increasing and driving the need for reliable, high-performance connections. The collaboration between Telespazio and Hughes Europe will enable governments to use modern applications and provide online services to their citizens. Telespazio is the exclusive commercial provider of defense, government, and security services.

The collaboration seeks to harness the extensive experience of Hughes in satellite broadband managed services and user terminal manufacturing, complemented by Telespazio's outstanding history as a service provider in the Satcom industry. The agreement between the two industry leaders will take charge of the K-VHTS services launch phase, targeting both the Government and Enterprise broadband market segments across Europe. The companies are poised to bring forth exciting possibilities in the realm of satellite connectivity and services.
