Sierra Space: Transitioning from Human Space Exploration to Full Commercialization

With over 60 years of experience transitioning from human space exploration to full commercialization, Sierra Space, a leading innovator in aerospace technology and infrastructure, is advancing the frontiers of the new space economy by revolutionizing transportation systems and building destination networks in orbit. Sierra Space’s groundbreaking platform is positioned to drive a wave of innovations in fields ranging from human health and telecommunications to climate change reversal and clean energy. By creating a thriving ecosystem for commerce and scientific discovery, the company is paving the way for extraordinary advancements that will shape the future of humanity both in space and on Earth.

This progress is being realized as humanity enters The Orbital Age—an era of historical transformation driven by the industrial revolution of commercializing space technologies. Instead of limited government-run missions with a select few astronauts, this age ushers in the potential for thousands of people to journey aboard spaceplanes and live, work, and innovate in commercial space destinations for extended periods, laying the foundation for unprecedented societal and economic growth beyond our planet.

Dream Chaser-The only commercial runway capable spaceplane

Sierra Space has ushering in the next era of space exploration with its revolutionary fleet of Dream Chaser® spaceplanes. With a capacity of over 6 tons for both pressurized and unpressurized cargo, and experiencing 1.5g force upon re-entry, the system ensures robust performance and versatility and is backed by NASA. The Dream Chaser spaceplane is the first-ever winged commercial spaceplane that will open shared access to space and international collaboration for all humankind. The multi-mission spaceplane fleet is designed to transport crew and cargo to low-Earth orbit (LEO) and can be customized for both domestic and international customers for global operations.

Dream Chaser was selected by NASA to provide cargo delivery, return and disposal service for the International Space Station under the Commercial Resupply Service 2 (CRS-2) contract. Tenacity®, the first DC-100 spaceplane, will provide a minimum of seven cargo missions to and from the space station carrying critical supplies like food, water, and science experiments.

Military Space Systems: Revolutionizing Defense Technology

Sierra Space is a commercial space company with a legacy of nearly 30 years of experience designing, manufacturing and successfully delivering space systems, components, and spacecraft on-orbit in support of National Security. Their Orbital Missions and Services (OMS) business area has designed, produced, and launched 23 space vehicles and supported over 400 successful space and interplanetary missions with their subsystems and components. Building on this expertise, they are developing a next generation product line of small, high performance, affordable satellites designed from the ground up for on-orbit servicing missions.
