ICEYE: Delivering Actionable Intelligence for Resilience, Readiness, and Responding

ICEYE, a pioneer in SAR technology, offers unparalleled monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to global changes with unmatched speed and accuracy. With the world’s largest SAR satellite constellation, ICEYE provides near real-time, actionable insights, ensuring data accessibility around the clock, even in challenging conditions. Trusted by governments and businesses, ICEYE supports decision-making in defense, insurance, disaster response, security, maritime monitoring, and finance to enhance resilience and sustainable development.

Operating globally with offices in Finland, Poland, Spain, the UK, Australia, Japan, UAE, Greece, and the US, ICEYE has over 700 employees united by the vision of improving life on Earth through reliable Earth Observation intelligence. ICEYE enables 24/7 real-time Earth Observation for tactical decision-making, regardless of weather or conditions.

Mission Systems

ICEYE simplifies satellite missions, offering fast and adaptable access to space to strengthen national defense. Choose to own a complete SAR satellite system or utilize satellite capacity as needed. ICEYE synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites enable a new level of persistent monitoring to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth, faster and more accurately than ever. Access to space has traditionally taken many years and massive investment. ICEYE is changing that by giving nations and organizations the chance to acquire ICEYE satellites, dedicated capacity, or both – in as little as weeks or months. Small yet powerful, ICEYE SAR satellites orbit Earth daily and sub-daily, providing nations and organizations with timely, accurate, and actionable insights for faster and better decision-making.

SAR Satellite

ICEYE SAR satellites are purpose-built to be smaller, more affordable, and more flexible than legacy systems, offering governments and organizations the opportunity to own their own fleets. With the unique combination of a miniaturized SAR sensor payload integrated into a high-performance lightweight platform, ICEYE satellites deliver a level of performance that has never been possible before.

The design enables long imaging dwell times at extremely high resolution and the ability to flexibly maneuver the antenna and scan the radar beam across wide areas. This enables ICEYE to deliver multiple imaging modes that enable the broadest possible range of operational applications. The satellite weighs 120 kg, is powered by a 1.4 kWh battery and five solar panels with peak power generation of 345 W, features S-/X-band communication, and offers X-band encrypted downlink at 500 megabits.

Satellite Antenna

Unparalleled satellite imaging

ICEYE’s unique antenna is an electronically steered phased array that can be controlled to enable a range of imaging modes for demanding operational needs. You can monitor the globe during the day, at night, and even through clouds, smoke, sand storms, and fog. It features up to 25 cm resolution and 80,000 km² scene size.

Space Heritage

ICEYE has launched 44 satellites since 2018 (as of January 2025) and plans to deploy more than 20 new satellites annually from 2025 onward. As the sole NewSpace company with a proven ability to design, build, and deliver new-era SAR Earth observation satellites, ICEYE is trusted by governments and organizations worldwide.

SAR Data - Image Modes

SAR satellites are designed for change detection, and their unique Dwell, Spot, Strip, and Scan modes give you the flexibility to monitor large areas and zoom into areas of interest at very high resolution as needed.

Dwell Modes

Dwell modes help extract unmatched critical information from a single image. See every detail in incredible clarity with enhanced image quality and reduced noise. Dwell Precise, the industry's highest fidelity 25 cm imaging product, is the latest addition to the Dwell family.

Ground resolutions: 25 cm, 50 cm, and 1 m

Scene size: 5 km x 5 km

Spot Modes

Spot mode of imaging by ICEYE enables very high resolution (up to 50 cm) and the largest available scene size for detailed monitoring. User can use Spot modes for object identification and highly detailed change detection.

Ground resolution: up to 50 cm

Scene size: up to 15 km x 15 km

Strip Mode

Strip is perfect for detecting changes to vast sea and land areas. Use Strip mode to see and respond to natural disasters and illegal activities, and to persistently monitor borders, coastal areas, or any location of interest.

Ground resolution: 3 m

Scene size: 30 km x 50 km

Scan Mode

Scan can cover an area of up to 840 km by 100 km. Scan mode is particularly effective for acquiring wide coverage imagery for maritime use cases, where national security authorities and maritime safety officials need persistent visibility.

Ground resolution: 15 m

Scene size: 840 km x 100 km

SAR Data Applications

ICEYE provides SAR data application studies across various domains, demonstrating the versatility and impact of its technology. Case studies include uncovering dark vessels through ship-to-ship oil transfer detection using ICEYE SAR satellite data combined with Windward’s maritime AI. Application studies highlight ICEYE’s capabilities to monitor ports daily, observe strategic sites, track deforestation in near real-time, protect maritime borders from illegal activities, and detect and respond to oil spills effectively. Each study showcases how ICEYE empowers users with actionable intelligence for diverse scenarios worldwide.

Sustainability

ICEYE is dedicated to improving life on Earth by becoming the global source of truth. As a trusted partner to governments and commercial enterprises, ICEYE delivers intelligence that enhances decision-making and fosters community resilience. ICEYE is committed to conducting business responsibly, continuously advancing its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices to create a sustainable future.

ICEYE has partnered with companies like Arturo, Nearmap, Aechelon Technology, Kongsberg (KSAT), Juvare and many more.
