Space BD, a leading Japanese space business integrator, and Gilmour Space Technologies, Australia’s leading launch services provider, are pleased to announce a strategic partnership to deliver satellite launch services from Australia. Under this agreement, Space BD will offer dedicated and rideshare opportunities on Gilmour Space’s Eris launch vehicles and ElaraSat platforms, opening new mission options for Japanese and global satellite customers. Launches would take place from the Bowen Orbital Spaceport in North Queensland, Australia – a location that offers diverse orbital access and flexibility for Southern Hemisphere missions.

Gilmour Space is developing Eris, a three-stage orbital launch vehicle designed to carry small satellites to orbit. As an Australian-owned and operated launch services provider, Gilmour represents a strategic alternative in the launch market, which increasingly values regional resilience, supply chain assurance, and mission flexibility. “We’re excited to be partnering with Space BD — a company with strong networks and proven experience in Japan’s space sector,” said David Jervis, Head of Sales at Gilmour Space. “This collaboration opens new opportunities to deliver Australian-made launch services to more customers across the Asia-Pacific.”

Space BD has supported over 90 satellite missions and more than 600 space-related projects, with expertise in launch integration, satellite deployment, and supporting experiments on the ISS, including in-orbit demonstration services. This partnership will expand Space BD’s global offerings while strengthening space cooperation between Japan and Australia.
