Interstellar Technologies, a leading space infrastructure company, has signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) with ATMOS Space Cargo (ATMOS), a European expert in space cargo transportation and re-entry solutions. The agreement initiates a strategic collaboration between the two companies to jointly explore integrated space logistics architectures that combine launch services and orbital return capabilities for customers across the Asia-Pacific region.
Cargo re-entry missions require precise orbit inclinations and customized integration support to successfully complete their full mission cycle from launch to return. The partnership focuses on aligning Interstellar’s orbital launch vehicle, ZERO, with ATMOS’s PHOENIX re-entry capsule to enable future missions requiring both precise insertion, payload operation in Low Earth Orbit, and controlled return to Earth. In addition, ATMOS will gain preferential access to dedicated multi-launch contracts with Interstellar. Both partners aim to develop regional mission workflows tailored for return-capable payloads. This reflects the ambition to advance regionally operated, end-to-end space transport capabilities.
In support of this goal, the two companies will jointly develop mission-specific local payload integration and verification workflows, optimizing operations and improving efficiency for capsule customer payloads in Asia. By conducting a tailored payload integration and qualification testing at Interstellar’s facilities in Japan, the partnership aims to streamline logistics and reduce overall launch lead times.
“By jointly exploring the foundation to align two complementary systems – launch and re-entry – we intend to shape a new framework for future end-to-end missions from Japan and the broader region. This collaboration is an important first step toward a new ecosystem for space access and return.” – Guillaume Dieppedalle, ATMOS Business Development Director.
“This partnership with ATMOS Space Cargo marks a pivotal step in advancing Interstellar’s mission to become a leading space logistics provider in Asia and beyond. This agreement reflects our commitment to building strategic, long-term partnerships that drive mutual growth, open new markets, and accelerate the development of a sustainable and accessible space infrastructure” – Keiji Atsuta, Interstellar Chief Operating Officer.
As global demand for dedicated, small satellite launches continues to rise, the ability to provide reliable, regionally operated launch services is becoming a key competitive advantage. Together, Interstellar and ATMOS aim to enhance the availability and accessibility of independent orbital transportation services across the Asia-Pacific region.
