Frontgrade Unveils Compact PSM28 Power Module for SWaP-Constrained Aerospace Platforms

Frontgrade Technologies, a leading provider of high-reliability electronic solutions for space and national security missions, has released its new PSM28 Power Supply Module, a small form-factor, high-output solution engineered for SWaP-constrained platforms including unmanned aerial systems, small satellites, and electronic warfare systems. Designed for seamless integration into the VITA 90 VNX+ chassis, the rugged and power-dense PSM28 delivers up to 150W of reliable, regulated voltages in a small form factor.

At its core, the highly efficient PSM28 features isolated and electromagnetic (EM) filtered Gallium Nitride (GaN) power conversion technology, enabling high power density with lower heat dissipation. This translates to longer system life, reduced cooling requirements, and better performance in compact system architectures. With the power supply’s three 12V outputs, customers gain flexible and shareable power distribution suitable for modular payload integration and scalable mission processing systems.

The PSM28 is equipped with Frontgrade’s embedded UT32M0R500 ARM® Cortex-M0+ microcontroller, enabling real-time telemetry, temperature sensing, and power monitoring. The onboard intelligence allows system controllers to optimize power usage, diagnose faults, and perform predictive maintenance, which significantly reduces risk.

Available now, the PSM28 aligns with Frontgrade’s broader MAMBA (Modular Applications for Mission processing with a Bifurcated Architecture) initiative, supporting modular, scalable system design for next-generation mission platforms. For integrators who need compact, ruggedized power with smart management and proven performance, the PSM28 offers a complete solution ready for deployment.
