Astrofein: Shaping the Future of Space Industry with Precision

Astro- und Feinwerktechnik Adlershof GmbH (Astrofein), a world-leading manufacturer of high-precision space components, is at the forefront of powering the next generation of satellite missions. With a space heritage of over 25 years, the company is renowned for its innovative and highly reliable products that are essential for the precise attitude control and deployment of spacecraft. Astrofein’s commitment to in-house engineering, manufacturing and testing has solidified its position as a trusted partner for missions from Earth observation to planetary research.

Products

Astrofein's core product portfolio centers on two critical areas: reaction wheels, picosatellite launchers and AOCS Components.

Reaction Wheels: These intelligent, "smart" reaction wheels are a core product. They are designed to provide precise and reliable attitude control for satellites and feature integrated electronics and digital interfaces to enhance performance.

Picosatellite Launchers: This family of deployers is used to safely transport and eject CubeSats. They are known for their patented, modular, and flight-proven design, which can accommodate various satellite sizes from 1U up to 16U.

Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) Components: Astrofein also offers a complete portfolio of AOCS components for small satellites. AOCS systems are essential for controlling a satellite's position in space, and Astrofein's components help to determine and adjust orientation. This portfolio includes the high-precision Gyro System AGS-1, a compact, low-mass three-axis rotation sensor designed for small satellites, and the ARGO-L1GNSS, a redundant GPS receiver unit optimized for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) missions. The company also manufactures the ACM Magnetometer, developed in cooperation with Magson GmbH, which provides a balance of low mass, high data quality, and low power consumption.

Services

Astrofein Engineering

Astrofein provides a comprehensive range of engineering services. Their engineering teams specialize in system, electrical, software, and thermal analysis, providing customized solutions for complex challenges. The company is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and DIN EN 9100:2018.

Astrofein Manufacturing

Astrofein's manufacturing team works for them on almost 900 m² of production space in the Berlin-Adlershof Technology Park. The strengths of their production include the manufacture of aerospace components and parts for the optical industry, handling technology, automation, and special machine construction. Depending on client needs, they manufacture prototypes, individual parts, or series. They pay attention to sustainability in the selection and operation of their machinery.

Astrofein continues to develop new products to meet the evolving demands of the space industry. Their focus on creating efficient, cost-effective, and highly reliable components positions them as a key player in enabling the proliferation of small satellite constellations and advancing the exploration of space. By combining deep technical knowledge with a commitment to quality, Astrofein is helping to shape the future of aerospace technology.
