LambdaG Delivers Next-Generation RF Solutions for Space and Defense Systems

LambdaG is a South African company focused on the design and manufacture of radio frequency (RF) and microwave components for aerospace and defence applications. The company works extensively with antenna technologies for small satellites and supports both terrestrial and space-based communication systems. Its activities include engineering development as well as consulting, testing, and performance analysis in RF and microwave domains.

LambdaG was established in 2018 to address emerging requirements in the small-satellite sector, particularly the need for lightweight, compact, and integrated antenna systems. Operating within South Africa’s developing space industry, the company contributes to the region’s growing technical capabilities by adopting manufacturing approaches such as additive manufacturing. In 2019, LambdaG began commercializing customizable microwave sub-assemblies and waveguide components, using 3D-printed structures to achieve design flexibility and reduced mass.


The company develops RF products spanning L- to Ka-band to meet evolving satellite communication demands. These space-oriented products are also made accessible through its strategic partner, NewSpace Systems.

LambdaG provides RF and microwave solutions operating up to 40 GHz, utilizing microstrip, stripline, and additively manufactured waveguide technologies. Its product portfolio includes integrated antenna assemblies, active GNSS antennas, and a series of passive waveguide components.

The ANT-KB-TRIA is a K-band antenna assembly used for high-frequency satellite communication links. It incorporates a profiled horn, an integrated septum polarizer, and optional bandpass filters. The system supports dual circular polarization, consistent radiation patterns, low passive intermodulation, and can be adapted to specific mechanical and performance requirements.

The ANT-L1-GNSS is an active GPS antenna designed for L1/E1 operation. It is compact, space-qualified, and built for small satellite platforms requiring accurate navigation, stable performance across temperature variations, and effective multipath rejection.

LambdaG develops passive microwave waveguide components up to Ka-band using additive manufacturing techniques. This method allows intricate geometries and enables a range of RF components including feed chains, power dividers and combiners, diplexers, filters, orthomode transducers, and waveguide-to-coax adapters. Fully custom waveguide designs are also supported for specific mission requirements.

In addition to hardware, the company provides engineering services centered on antenna and passive component development. These services include custom design work, research and development, design of sub-assemblies and mounting hardware, antenna optimization, placement studies, RF and microwave consulting, radar cross-section assessments, and measurement-based test and validation activities.
