The LEO Ka-Band from Airbus is an antenna pointing mechanism designed for hemispheric coverage in low Earth orbit communications. It offers a pointing accuracy of less than 0.3° and a rotational velocity under 10°/s. It has a frequency range of 25.5–27 GHz and delivers a high antenna gain of 31 dBi. This has an independent 2-axis movement with full azimuth rotation and variable elevation. It uses a geared stepper motor drive and contactless rotary joints for RF signal transfer. This LEO Ka-band has a slip ring for electrical signal transmission. The unit has a mass of less than 9 kg and a moving envelope of 70 x 72 cm.
