The SMRT2815S from Crane Aerospace & Electronics is a Radiation-Hardened DC-DC converter designed for high-reliability military and space applications. This converter efficiently converts a 28 V DC input to a regulated 15 V DC single output and delivers up to 35 W of output power. This single-output power supply has an output ripple of up to 180 mV p-p and achieves efficiency levels of up to 80%. It features a built-in MIL-STD-461 EMI filter, magnetic feedback regulation and fixed high-frequency switching. It has an output current of up to 2.33 A and also offers remote sense capability, an inhibit function and synchronization input. The converter includes short-circuit protection and a soft-start function to further limit inrush current during start-up with an integrated feed-forward compensation and discontinuous topologies provide high levels of input-to-output ripple rejection. This radiation-tolerant DC-DC converter demonstrates robust performance against space radiation with Single Event Effects (SEE) LET tolerance up to 86 MeV·cm²/mg and Total Ionizing Dose (TID) resistance of 30 to 100 krad(Si). It is available in a package measuring 82.43 x 56.01 x 6.65 mm.
